In its annual developer conference WWDC17, Apple took the opportunity to announce the renewal of its line of laptops and desktops, highlighting the iMac Pro, the company’s proposal for professional users who require a high performance team. This team seeks to be an alternative for users who are waiting for the successor of Mac Pro, a team that was presented in 2013 with a cylindrical design, but that did not evolve in new versions. Apple expects the new Mac Pro to be ready by 2018.
The iMac Pro computer is a desktop computer with a 27-inch Retina 5K screen, which supports a configuration with Intel Xeon processors of up to 18 cores, from 16 GB to 128 GB of RAM and a Radeon Pro Vega graphics chip. You can have an SSD storage unit of up to 4 TB and it supports the use of two 5K screens simultaneously. It has four Thunderbolt 3 ports and has 10 Gb Ethernet connectivity.
In its base configuration, the iMac Pro will be priced at $ 4999 in the United States and will be available in the market as of December 2017.
The rest of Apple’s line of computers were also renewed with a new configuration. On the one hand, the iMac desktop equipment line will feature a more powerful graphics chip, updated processors, Retina 4K displays and faster storage units.
The new iMac will feature seventh-generation Intel processors, known as Kaby Lake, up to 4.2 and 4.5 GHz. The graphics chip will be the Radeon Pro 500 series. It will have an initial price of $ 1299 in the version of 21, 5 inches.
The same happens with Apple laptops, adding seventh generation Intel Core i processors in the segment of MacBook equipment, while MacBook Pro will also add a new configuration of Kaby Lake processor in its versions of 13 and 15 inches. In turn, the MacBook Air version will also be renewed with a new more powerful chip.
The MacBook line will have an initial price of $ 1299.
Regarding software developments, the developer conference was the space to present macOS High Sierra, the update of Apple’s operating system for desktop computers. This new version will add functions of blocking of notices and tracking of notices in the Safari browser, in addition to preventing automatic playback of videos. In turn, the company highlighted that macOS High Sierra will have a development platform that will focus on the development of virtual reality.
macOS High Sierra is now available in beta for developers, and will reach the rest of the users as a free upgrade for all users of an Apple computer with the version macOS Sierra.
